Our History
Green Meadows Community Residence for Seniors Inc. is located on HWY 245 in North Grant. We are approximately 8km from the Town of Antigonish. Green Meadows consists of 40 acres of beautiful countryside with grounds that provide a secure and quiet setting for our residents. On the property you will find beautiful farm land with horses and a riding ring.

In 1999 Lee Kelly RN identified a need for long term care for seniors in our Community, not just an institute, but a real home for seniors. It was then the Main house of Green Meadows was established. In the beginning Lee and her family lived on premises with 4 seniors residing on the west side of the home.

In 2006, based on the success of Green Meadows and the increasing demand for more beds Green Meadows launched our Southside Residence of Green Meadows. This house can accommodate 5 seniors.

Then in 2008, with continued demand Green Meadows expanded the Main House of Green Meadows to 9 private rooms. At this time Lee and her family moved into their own house, on the same property of Green Meadows.

Green Meadow is proud to have been in business for 18 years.

Testimonials
"Hi there - thanks again for everything Lee. We will be forever grateful to Lee and all her staff for the outstanding care our Mom received while residing at Green Meadows. With my brother, sister and I living very far from Nova Scotia, it gave us such peace of mind to know she would be so well taken care of. I will always remember when my sister and I did a visit to the home, one of the residents came over to me and said, "You know the thing I like best about this place? They don't have signs all over telling you what to do and what not to do." You know, he was right. It is far from an institution - it is definitely more like a home. My Mom was able to bring her furniture and photos for her private room to make the transition easier and she never once said that she didn't want to be there. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and efficient and the home spotless. I could go on and on - the puppies that came to visit, the beautiful summer flowers, the entertainment - We always chuckle when friends visited Mom, they always would say that if they need to go into a nursing home, this is the place they want. Again - a huge thank you for taking such good care of Mom.

“You will never know the peace of mind we had because we knew that mom was with people who cared about her and treated her as ‘family’. In fact, you were part of her – and our – family. Even in death, you gave her such respect and dignity. We will never forget.”
Doug and Joanne Hill and John and Judy Briand (Antigonish, N.S.)

“Words cannot express the deep gratitude we feel you enabled Fr. Allan’s last years to be ones of dignity. May God continue to bless you and your wonderful family. Thank you for being there right to the end.”

“Green Meadows Community Residence for Seniors, North Grant and all the staff, past and present. Dad felt he was part of your family especially when the children brought the puppies to his room and drew pictures for him. You know he was at home watching the cattle, sheep and horses grazing and haying time. He loved your flower garden display, home cooking and especially the sweet treats.”
Thank you for Albert MacEachern (Printed in The Casket)

"What I admire most about the efforts at Green Meadows is their staffing ability. Without fail they hire women who are gentle and caring, and then provide the staff with a work atmosphere that allows them to care for the residents in a warm, positive, and professional manner while always respecting their dignity."
Richard Mash (St. Andrews, NS)

"Green Meadows is an excellent residence for adults needing health-assistance in their lives. It is staffed by very professional care-givers that always have the residents' best interests in all that they do. Their staff become extended family to the residents as soon as they arive and provide a very home-like, clean and professionally run environment for every resident. Without hesitation I would recommend Green Meadows for anyone considering assisted living".
